The WSDip in Lifestyle & Recreation Management adopts a work-study approach to prepare you for a professional career in the wide-ranging Lifestyle sector.

Through this diploma, you will gain skills and knowledge needed to plan, conceptualise, implement and evaluate lifestyle recreation programmes for members of the public and/or private clubs and lifestyle & recreation organisations.

 

Prerequisite:

Outgoing and pro-active individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skill. Willing to work on a flexible work-week including weekends, evenings and public holidays. Possess excellent problem solving and multitasking skills in effectively handling multiple and concurrent tasks.

 

Job Role:

The Lifestyle & Recreation Executive plans, conceptualises, executes and evaluates lifestyle recreation programme for members of the private club and lifestyle & recreation organisation, in areas of sports, recreation and events. He/She will need to develop and maintain good relationships with members and customers, liaise with other staff members to ensure service standards are upheld, and gather feedback to provide ideas for operational and service improvement.

 

Training pattern:

Day Release - Trainees attend lessons at ITE for one day per a week and spend the remainder of the work-week at the workplace for OJT.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  1. ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;
    • Nitec with GPA ≥ 2
      • All Courses from School of Business & Services
      • Hospitality Operations
    • Higher Nitec:
      • All Courses from School of Business & Services
      • Hospitality Operations

    OR

  2. In-service employees+ with:
    • Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
    • Relevant work experience
    • Strong employer endorsement

+In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

Career Opportunities

Work-Study Diploma in Lifestyle & Recreation Management graduates are employed by organisations in the leisure and recreation sector.  Some job titles held are Recreation Assistant and Lifestyle Recreation Officer. There are excellent opportunities for career advancement as a Manager in the Lifestyle & and Recreation sector.
