The Work-Study Diploma in Security Operations offers a dynamic, work-study approach designed to prepare you for a professional career in the security industry, including roles in in-land enforcement and security-related policy implementation.

Through this program, you will gain the skills and knowledge needed to perform critical tasks such as security operations, access control and security surveillance management.

You will also be trained to handle incidents and emergency responses, conduct threat assessments, manage disorderly conduct and threatening behaviour, and enforce security legislation.

 

Prerequisite:

  • Physically fit and have normal colour vision
  • Comfortable working 12-hour rotating shifts
  • Meet employer’s entry requirements, including medical criteria, security and background checks.
  • Customer service oriented with excellent communication and observation skills
  • Able to think critically and make good decisions under pressure

 

Job Role:

A self-driven, compliant individual who prioritises Singapore's security interests and is committed to safeguarding their assigned station and maintaining high-security standards. 

Key responsibilities include enforcing relevant laws, managing incidents and crises, detecting security threats, performing crowd control in public areas and/or manage traffic on the roads. 

The role requires vigilance, prompt response to security concerns, and effective collaboration with team members to ensure overall safety in the assigned area.

 

Day Release - Trainees attend lessons at ITE for one day per week and spend the remainder of the work-week at the workplace for OJT.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  1. ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;
    • Nitec with GPA ≥ 2
      • All Courses
    • Higher Nitec:
      • All Courses

    OR

  2. In-service employees+ with:
    • Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
    • Relevant work experience
    • Strong employer endorsement
    • Free from colour appreciation deficiency

    +In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

  3. Physically fit and have normal colour vision

 

Career Opportunities

WSDip in Security Operations graduates are employed by Law Enforcement Agencies or Private Security Agencies.

 Some job titles held are Auxiliary Police Officer / Security Officer / Sergeant 1.

 Upon graduation, trainees will have the opportunity to promote to Auxiliary Police Officer Supervisor/ Senior Security Officer / Sergeant 2, with a possible job deployment to other job functions.
