Do you enjoy baking cakes, pastries and breads while immersing in the fragrant aroma lingering from the oven?
In this course, you will be trained to produce a range of bakery products, breads, cakes, chocolate decorations and desserts. You will use a variety of ingredients, both halal and non-halal in your creations.
The course also includes a three-month and six-month enhanced internship with one of the renowned Pastry or Bakery establishments.
What you'll learn
- Prepare mise en place for pastry and baking
- Process baking ingredients
- Prepare a range of basic and artisanal breads
- Prepare a range of sweet and savoury pastries
- Prepare petit fours, chocolates, candies and confectionery
- Prepare a range of cakes and carry out cake decorations
- Prepare a range of hot, cold and frozen desserts
- Apply food nutrition sensory analytics on pastry products
- Display, evaluate and store finished products
Entry Requirements
GCE ‘O’ level grades in English Language and 2 other subjects:
- Grade 1 – 7 in English Language
- Grade 1 – 7 in 2 other subjects
To be eligible for selection, you must also have sat for Mathematics (Elementary/Additional).
Notes:
- Applicants will have to pass a prescribed medical examination.
