Course Coverage

The Work-Study Diploma in Electrical Engineering adopts a work-study approach to prepare you for a professional career in the Engineering Services sector.

You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to design, install, maintain, repair, inspect, test, operate and supervise electrical installations and systems in accordance with engineering specifications as well as codes of practice and regulations.

 

Prerequisite:

Practical people who apply knowledge to real-world problems. Value their contribution and impact to project goals. Work well in teams, communicating effectively. Enjoy learning and growing their skills. You need to be colour deficiency free as reading electrical colour code is a daily composition of the job.

 

Job Role:

An Assistant Electrical Engineer / Technical Officer is one who designs, installs, maintains, repairs, inspects, operates, tests and supervises electrical installations and systems in accordance with engineering specifications, codes of practice and regulations.

 

Training pattern:

Day Release - Trainees attend lessons at ITE for two day per a week and spend the remainder of the work-week at the workplace for OJT.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  1. ITE graduates from any one of the following courses + pass company screening & interview;

    Nitec with GPA ≥ 2:

    • Aerospace Avionics
    • Aircraft Maintenance (Avionics)
    • Aircraft Maintenance (Mechanical & Avionics)
    • Electrical Technology (Lighting & Sound)
    • Electrical Technology (Power & Control)
    • Electronics
    • Marine Electrical Technology
    • Microelectronics

    Higher Nitec:

    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronic Engineering
    • Mechatronics Engineering
    • Rapid Transit Engineering
    • Facility Management

    OR

  2. In-service employees+ with:
    • Equivalent qualifications such as Workplace Literacy & Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above
    • Relevant work experience
    • Strong employer endorsement

    +In-service employee may be invited for an admission interview

  3. Free from colour appreciation deficiency
