Are you fascinated by how Digitization and Emerging Technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, DfMA and 3D Printing have revolutionised the way buildings will be designed, produced and constructed?

Digitization has revolutionized the way our buildings and infrastructure being designed and constructed.

Ride on this digital wave as you will learn to use Building Information Modelling (BIM) to design and create 3D models for buildings, steel structures, and civil engineering works. You will also be producing structural and civil engineering drawings according to specifications and the relevant Codes of Practice.

You'll emerge as a specialist in BIM modelling or CAD designing, among many exciting careers that await you!

This course equips students with the skills and knowledge to prepare structural drawings, reinforced concrete drawings and civil engineering drawings according to designer's sketches and specifications in compliance with architectural drawings and relevant Codes of Practices using CAD software and Building Information Modelling (BIM) software.

What you'll learn

  • Prepare civil and structural layout plans
  • Prepare civil and structural components’ schedule and details such as beams, slabs, columns, foundation, roads, drainage and sewerage
  • Prepare civil and structural detailed drawings
  • Prepare shop drawings for construction
  • Liaise with engineers to resolve discrepancies and site problems

Entry Requirements

Admission to Year 1 of the 3-year curriculum structure:

GCE ‘O’ level grades in any 2 subjects:

  • Grade 1-8

or

GCE ‘N’ level passes in Mathematics or Science* and 2 other subjects:

  • Grade A-D or Grade 1-5

* Mobile Robotics, Smart Electrical Technology, Mechanical Design & Automation, IoT Applications, and Mobile Web Applications subjects can be used in lieu of Science for admission to this Higher Nitec course.

Higher Nitec in Civil & Structural Engineering Design graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to a Technical Engineer Diploma course at ITE. For more details on progression, please click here.
